OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2008. Dmitry Medvedev approved the list of instructions to the Government following the meeting of the Council for Science, Technology and Education that took place on October 15, 2008.

The meeting was about development of general school education in Russia.

Mr Medvedev issued instructions on urgent measures for repairs to school buildings, the drafting of new construction standards and standard designs for school buildings, tax incentives to encourage organisations involved in building schools and related infrastructure, and also measures to encourage specialists from different economic sectors into the teaching profession, modernisation of teacher training, and measures to raise the profession’s prestige.

Strict deadlines have been set for all the instructions.
