OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2008. Dmitry Medvedev Sent to State Duma for Ratification the Treaties on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Russian Federation and the Republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The treaties were introduced to the State Duma on the basis of Point G of Article 84 of the Russian Federation Constitution and in accordance with the Federal Law ‘On International Treaties of the Russian Federation’. 

Given the political importance of these treaties, Mr Medvedev has proposed that their ratification be given priority examination.

The treaties were signed in Moscow on September 17, 2008.
