OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2008. As the socioeconomic and humanitarian crisis persists in the Palestinian territories, the Government of Russia took the decision to provide urgent, gratuitous financial aid of 10 million dollars for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). The other day this money arrived in the account of the PNA Finance Ministry.

The aid will be used to meet the immediate social and humanitarian needs of the Palestinian population, primarily in the area of health and education.

This step was undertaken by the Russian side in accordance with the decisions of the Middle East Quartet, and international donor forums and is a contribution to efforts now being made to stabilize the situation as soon as possible and to advance the peace process in the Middle East.
