Dmitry Medvedev Had Meeting with Leaders of Four Parties
OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. In an informal setting, the President talked with chairman of the Supreme Council of United Russia Boris Gryzlov, head of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and leader of A Just Russia Sergei Mironov.
As he opened the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev praised the State Duma’s work in the spring session and noted that it had passed important legislation concerning taxes and the budget, including a law to provide support for caring for the disabled. The President noted that the legislature had considered 534 bills and adopted 167 laws, including three constitutional laws. Dmitry Medvedev said that the state will continue to pay close attention to improving legislation in the social sphere.
During the meeting the President proposed discussing the strengthening of parliamentary factions, as well as other issues of state organisation and administrative law.
Particular attention was paid to the national anti-corruption plan developed according to presidential order by the Anti-Corruption Council.
