OREANDA-NEWS. July 2, 2008. on behalf of the Government of Georgia, the Prime Minister of Georgia Vladimer Gurgenidze was delivered by the World Bank the Certificate of Appreciation for the Poverty Reduction Support Program in Georgia; the program proved to be the winner of the WB annual competition which ran under the following title: Improvement of the Life Standard of the Population in Europe and Central Asia and the award was granted to Georgia for the outstanding results and success achieved by our country. The Price was delivered to the prime minister by Luca Barbone, World Bank Sector Director on Poverty Reduction.

"Since 2004 Georgia’s government has managed to maintain a good pace of growth and performed macroeconomic stability which was achieved by means of implementation of healthy fiscal and monetary policies as well as by launching the solid multilateral structural reform”, – Luka Barbone asserted.

The Poverty Reduction Support Program is the only program supported by the budget which was selected by the WB experts’ commission among 22 projects from the European and Central Asia Regions.
