OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2008. A working meeting of representatives of the mediators from Russia and Ukraine in the Transnistrian settlement process – Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador at Large Valery Nesterushkin and Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleksandr Horin – was held in Kyiv on June 24.

The meeting at the Ukrainian MFA focused mainly on examining the current situation in the region and discussing the possibilities of assistance by the mediators to the joint groups of Moldovan and Transnistrian experts in the elaboration of confidence building measures and solution of a number of practical matters in the interests of the population on both banks of the Nistra River, as well as prospects for restoring the work of the "Permanent conference on political issues within the negotiation process towards a Transnistrian settlement" involving the representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol.
