OREANDA-NEWS. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on May 15 met in Yekaterinburg with the External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, Pranab Mukherjee, who is in Russia to attend the meetings of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, India, China and Brazil.

During the conversation, the two sides examined a number of Russian-Indian cooperation issues of mutual concern, including upcoming political contacts scheduled as part of the Year of Russia in India being held in 2008 and of the Year of India in Russia slated for 2009.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies have reaffirmed the mutual striving of Russia and India to continue actively developing their strategic partnership in the interests of the two states and of ensuring security in Asia and in the world.
