Vladimir Putin Had Brief Talks with NATO Summit Participants
OREANDA-NEWS. April 4, 2008. President Vladimir Putin had brief talks with some of the participants in the NATO summit during an official lunch hosted by Romanian President Traian Basescu in honour of the heads of state and government attending the summit.
Mr Putin had a brief conversation with U.S. President George W. Bush during which they discussed the details of their upcoming bilateral meetings in Sochi on April 5-6.
The President also spoke with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, with whom he exchanged views on the next Russia-European Union summit, which will take place in Khanty-Mansiisk (Western Siberia) in June.
During the lunch, Mr Putin and Romanian President Traian Basescu agreed to hold a separate bilateral meeting.
In a brief conversation, Mr Putin and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the agenda for top-level bilateral contacts.
Mr Putin also had a brief exchange with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, with whom he is scheduled to meet separately in Moscow on April 9.
