OREANDA-NEWS. Armen Sarksyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, was diagnosed with the coronavirus of a new type. He celebrated the New Year in London with his family and underwent leg surgery there, the President’s office reported.

Armenpress news agency informs that the operation in the capital of Great Britain was successfully completed on January 3, but after that, the 67-year-old politician developed symptoms of COVID-19. The test was positive.

Currently, Sarksyan is in isolation, he continues to work remotely. It is not specified where the head of state is isolated.

In the summer, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan fell ill with coronavirus. He reported that the disease was asymptomatic.

In total, 160,500 coronavirus infections were detected in Armenia. 2.9 thousand people died.
