An Emergency Meeting Convened in Seoul Due to the Launch of Missiles in Pyongyang

OREANDA-NEWS North Korea’s missile launch was a cause of an urgent meeting of the South Korean National Security Council, the South President’s administration said on August 16.
In connection with the missile launches on the morning of August 16 from North Korea, the South Korean National Security Council opened an emergency meeting at 09:00 (local time).
The meeting was attended by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who continued to be informed about what was happening in the North during the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Jong Yui Young, Moon’s security adviser.
The South Korean military on the morning of August 16 recorded the launch of two shells from Pyongyang towards the Sea of Japan. Tokyo stated that the missiles did not reach their exclusive economic zone and did not pose a direct threat.
