A Criminal Case on the Fact of Poroshenko’s High Treason Was Brought
OREANDA-NEWS. The National Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine opened a criminal case against former President of the country Petro Poroshenko on the fact of high treason when he signed the Minsk Agreements. This was reported by Andriy Portnov, a Ukrainian lawyer, former deputy head of the administration of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.
In February 2015, Poroshenko arrived in Minsk with a delegation of foreign heads of state and gave instructions to sign an agreement, “under which any changes to the Constitution regarding Donbass, as well as regarding local elections, should be coordinated with the leaders of the occupied Ukrainian territories (Self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. – Ed.),” as it was said on Portnov’s page on YouTube.
According to the lawyer, Poroshenko realized that the will of the leaders of the non-recognized republics depends on the will of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the president signed an agreement by which he in fact abandoned the state border of Ukraine. Portnov noted that the criminal case was opened according with his personal request.
Earlier in November, the National Bureau of Investigation proposed declaring Poroshenko a suspect of committing crimes falling under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: actions aimed at violent changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power and abuse of power or official position. The document on this was sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
On October 1, Roman Truba, the director of the National Bureau of Investigation, said that 12 criminal cases were being investigated in Ukraine against Poroshenko and his team. However, the former president is a witness in all those cases. All episodes relate to the legalization of proceeds of crime and interference with the activities of judges.
