A Bill on Sanctions against China Is Submitted to the US Senate
OREANDA-NEWS. A group of American senators submitted to the upper house a bill on imposing sanctions against China because of the spread of coronavirus. Restrictive measures will be introduced if Beijing does not provide full information on the events that caused the pandemic.
This was announced by Senator Lindsey Graham on his website. “I’m convinced that without Chinese Communist Party deception the virus would not be here in the United States,” Graham wrote. According to him, China refused to admit international experts to the Wuhan laboratory, from where the coronavirus began to spread. Graham was supported by eight senators.
According to the text of the bill, within two months, the US Congress should receive confirmation that China provided a report to the investigating authorities from the USA, allied countries or organizations affiliated with the United Nations, closed all markets where wild animals posing a risk of infection to humans are sold, and freed Hong Kong activists who were arrested after the start of the spread of COVID-19.
Without this confirmation, the US President Donald Trump will be authorized to impose anti-Chinese sanctions. They may include a freeze of assets, a ban on entry, cancellation of visas and other measures.
