OREANDA-NEWS The Polish leadership is going to build an ammunition production plant, which would improve the supply of Ukraine and replenish European stocks. This was announced by President Andrzej Duda during a speech at the defense exhibition in Kielce, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, the ammunition factory is exactly what the country and NATO need. The politician pointed out that the fighting in Ukraine for two and a half years has demonstrated how great the shortage of shells in Europe is, and it can only be closed by its own production. In addition, the construction of the plant will demonstrate Warsaw's responsibility to the North Atlantic Alliance, Duda concluded.

Earlier, local media reported that the leaders of Poland's ruling coalition had agreed on a sharp increase in military spending for 2025. In the draft budget, this item increased from 4.1 to 4.7 percent of GDP, that is, to almost $ 50 billion, although in 2024 this share was already a record.

At the end of July, it became known that Kiev had ordered the construction of a military plant on its territory from the German defense giant Rheinmetall. The company will produce 155 mm ammunition, the production volume will be at least 100 thousand shells per year.
