Peskov Told How Putin Spends His Birthday
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin rarely frees his birthday from work events, and he has no tradition of treating colleagues at work on this holiday, said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
The head of the Russian state celebrates his 69th birthday on Thursday.
"Putin does not have a tradition of treating colleagues at work, you know that the president rarely releases this day from any work activities, and in the administration it is even more a working day," Peskov told reporters in response to a relevant question.
He also suggested that the permanent members of the Security Council, with whom the president has a meeting today, will take advantage of this situation to congratulate him. According to a Kremlin spokesman, members of the Security Council usually congratulate Putin on the phone.
When asked whether they give the head of state gifts, Peskov said that "sometimes they give" - when "some face-to-face meetings" take place. "Today there will be a meeting on videoconferencing", Peskov explained.
When asked whether foreign leaders have been sending gifts to Putin recently, a Kremlin spokesman replied: "When how."
"I, at least now, do not have information on this matter," he said.
Many leaders of European states have already congratulated the Russian leader on his birthday. So, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, in a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, congratulated him on his birthday and noted his contribution to strengthening the authority of Russia on the world stage, the press service of the head of state reported. "According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, thanks to the efforts of Vladimir Putin, Russia has become an authoritative world power, without which no key international problem can be resolved," the press service said.
