Spokesman for the US Defense Department, Jonathan Hoffman published a statement on the official website of the agency, claiming that the Russian military acted aggressively and provocatively when they injured American servicemen in Syria and violated agreements on conflict resolution. “We have advised the Russians that their behavior was dangerous and unacceptable,” the report reads. The Pentagon has indicated that it reserves the right to “vigorously defend” American military if their safety is put at risk.

The incident took place on August 25. The USA and Russia blamed each other for it. CNN channel reported that Russian military car crashed into an American motor, causing injuries to its crew. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, before the conflict, the Russian convoy moved in the zone of control of the international anti-terrorist coalition, having previously agreed on the route with the American side. Despite this, armoured vehicles of the US Army began to pursue the patrol and then blocked it.
