OREANDA-NEWS Three quarters of Russia's fish are harvested in the Far East, it is important to ensure affordable logistics, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"It is important to ensure simple and affordable logistics, since about 70% of fish and seafood are produced in the Far East," Patrushev said.

According to him, the domestic market is a priority in the distribution of supplies of fish products, "and has been for more than one year." This is an agreement between business and the state, a common responsibility for the country's food security.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that state support measures have been introduced for this purpose, including, first of all, subsidizing the railway tariff for transporting pollock from the Far East to the central regions of the country. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the list of subsidized fish products includes pink salmon and ivasi – mass, folk fish species.
