OREANDA-NEWS Areas contaminated with fuel oil have been found on the coast of the city of Yevpatoria. This was announced by the head of the city administration, Alexander Yuryev, on Telegram.

According to him, the utilities were ready for this and promptly began collecting contaminated soil and eliminating the consequences of emissions. "The emissions are isolated. The situation is constantly changing depending on the strength of the wind and sea waves," Yuriev added.

He added that birds stained with fuel oil are washed and sent to the Taigan Lions Park for rehabilitation.

Earlier, on January 5, the Delphi Scientific and Ecological Dolphin Rescue Center reported that more than 30 dolphins died after a fuel oil spill in the Kerch Strait. Representatives of the organization clarified that since the emergency with the tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, 61 dead cetaceans have been recorded in the Black Sea, the death of 32 individuals may be related to the spill of petroleum products. The bodies of the others are old, they died before December 15th.
