OREANDA-NEWS  The unemployment rate in Russia in January 2023, according to official data, reached a historic low. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova after the meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the restoration of the labor market, Interfax reports.

According to her, the number of registered unemployed dropped to 563.6 thousand people (3.6 percent). 49 thousand employees are idle, which is 35 thousand less than was observed at the beginning of the year.

Separately, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that contracts have been signed for the participation of 24 thousand people in paid public and temporary work. As part of the employment subsidy program, employers have sent 41 thousand applications. Of these, 3.7 thousand applications are in Moscow, 2.8 thousand — in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and more than two thousand — in Tatarstan.

Earlier, the Central Bank in the list of the main threats to the Russian economy for 2023 called, in addition to technological limitations and weakness of external demand, a shortage of qualified personnel.
