OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first half of 2023, cars in Russia have sharply risen in price. The cost of new cars increased by 12 percent, to 1.9 million rubles, and used cars — by 18 percent, to 1.3 million, with reference to a study by SberAuto and the analytical resource Check Index, RIA Novosti reports.
Residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Tatarstan have been buying cars the most actively since the beginning of the year.
The average cost of a new car in Moscow was 2.9 million rubles, and a used one — 1.7 million rubles. In the Moscow region, prices rose to the level of 2.6 and 1.4 million rubles, respectively. Residents of St. Petersburg purchased new vehicles for 1.8 million and 1.4 million rubles. The average price of a new car in the Krasnodar Territory has increased to two million, and a used one — to 1.3 million rubles. The cost of transport in Tatarstan amounted to 1.7 and 1.3 million rubles, respectively.
In mid-August, AvtoVAZ raised prices for some Lada models. Prices increased by 1.2-5.3 percent, the increase was from 20 to 65 thousand rubles, depending on the model. So, the updated Lada Vesta has risen in price the least, by 20 thousand rubles. The three-door Lada Niva Classic now costs 30 and 40 thousand rubles more. Lada Niva Travel has become even more expensive, by 60-65 thousand rubles, depending on the version. Telegram channel Mash previously wrote that the reason for the third rise in price in 2023 was problems with the supply of spare parts and a shortage of ready-made cars in dealerships.
According to Maxim Kadakov, the editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, against the background of tightening the monetary policy of the Central Bank in Russia, car loan rates may significantly increase. Now banks issue loans at an average of 17-18 percent, but in the near future rates may rise to 22-25 percent. At the same time, the rates will not rise simultaneously, but within 1-2 months, he explained.
