OREANDA-NEWS The first President of Kazakhstan paid a visit to the Kremlin and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the acting head of the Central Asian republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in an interview with the Kazakh newspaper Ana Tili.

According to him, the meeting took place in December and was the second in a year. "The first meeting in early autumn was not reported in the media. They probably meet as long—time friends and colleagues, they have something to remember," said the acting President of Kazakhstan.

According to Tokayev, Nazarbayev is the initiator of the meetings. The current president of Kazakhstan said that for the first head of the republic, trips to Moscow have become almost a tradition that originated in the days of the Soviet Union. At that time, Nazarbayev was a Soviet party functionary.

Earlier, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan is committed to strategic partnership and allied relations with Russia. According to him, the President of Kazakhstan outlined this position during a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the last meeting in Astana.
