OREANDA-NEWS  The reserves of the Amur region were under threat due to forest fires. This is reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda.

On July 11, in the Norsk Nature Reserve, the fire passed almost a third of the area of the site according to the data of the ISDM-Rosleskhoz satellite monitoring system. "The fires are mostly not on horseback, but grassroots, sometimes even underground, which complicates extinguishing," said Timofey Mudrak, director of the reserve. According to him, firefighters are coping with the fires and do not allow the fire to disperse, however, "all hopes are now for good showers" that will help to cope with the fire faster.

The fire is also destroying the Zeya Nature Reserve. Since June 22, the fire has affected more than a tenth of the protected area. It is noted that the fight against fire in the reserve is complicated by the mountainous terrain.

In total, there are currently more than 70 fires in the north of the Russian region. Since the beginning of the year, more than 1.6 million hectares of territory have been burned, of which more than a million are forest lands.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Alexander Kozlov, said that this year could enter the top ten warmest in the country over the past 30 years. According to him, due to the intense heat, the situation with forest fires is complicated, the peak of which should come in the middle and end of July.
