NATO Ship Group Headed for the Black Sea
OREANDA-NEWS. Istanbul information portals report that warships of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 are sent to the Black Sea.
According to publications, vessels have already passed through the Dardanelles and Sea of Marmara in the direction of the Bosporus. The group includes the flagship, Canadian frigate HMCS Fredericton (FFH 337), Italian frigate Virginio Fasan (F 591) and Turkish frigate TCG Salihreis (F 246). On March 22, frigate Regina Maria sailed out of the Romanian port of Constanta and also joined the group.
According to the Romanian Navy, the ships will monitor the marine, air and underwater situation. In addition, they will conduct joint exercises with partners in the region in order to increase operational compatibility during military operations in the Black Sea.
