OREANDA-NEWS. The North Atlantic Alliance does not recognize Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea and calls on the Russian authorities to regain control of the Kiev peninsula. This is stated in a statement by the NATO-Ukraine Commission, published on the council’s website.
“Crimea ؙ is the territory of Ukraine. We urge Russia to regain control of Crimea Ukraine, ”the report said on the alliance’s website. “There can be no“ ordinary business ”until a constructive change takes place in Russia's actions”, NATO said. These actions should show that the country complies with international law, as well as international obligations and takes responsibility for their compliance, the report said.
NATO member countries are also “deeply concerned” about the human rights violations committed by the Russian authorities in Crimea against “all Ukrainians”, including Crimean Tatars and members of other communities. In addition, NATO called on Russia to return the Ukrainian ships captured in the Kerch Strait, as well as to provide unhindered access to Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov, providing freedom of navigation.
