Moscow Mayor Extended Quarantine Measures until mid-January
OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin extended restrictive measures imposed due to the spread of coronavirus of a new type until January 15.
According to the politician, the situation in the Russian capital remains to be difficult. So, for the week from November 16 to 22, the number of “detected cases of COVID pneumonia” increased by 2 %, and the number of hospitalizations by 3 %.
“Now there is a gradual smoothing of the growth dynamics. But it is still too early to talk about a transition to a decrease in the incidence rate. The healthcare system is still working with a very heavy load,” Sobyanin said.
The home self-isolation regime for residents of risk groups, which includes people over 65 years, as well as those with chronic diseases, was extended until January 15. Until the same date, employers are instructed to keep 30 % of employees on the remote work. Bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs will continue to operate with restrictions until mid-January. By order of the mayor, they do not accept visitors after 23.00. The authorities are confident that these measures allow avoiding the introduction of a lockdown in Moscow.
