Moscow Court Found Google Guilty of Privacy Violation
OREANDA-NEWS. The Tagansky Court of Moscow satisfied the claim of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia (Roskomnadzor) against American resources Google and YouTube for violation of the right to privacy. Department representatives went to court at the request of the schoolgirl’s mother who claimed that her daughter is in one of the videos on the Google’s hosting. Details of the claim are not provided.
“The actions of the defendants were found illegal and violating the rights of citizens to privacy, personal and family secrets,” court press secretary Zulfiya Gurinchuk told Interfax news agency. According to her, the website can be entered into the “register of violators of the rights of subjects of personal data.”
On December 23, Roskomnadzor initiated administrative proceedings against Google for insufficient filtering of search results from content prohibited in the Russian Federation. According to the agency, on average Google does not remove up to 30 % of “dangerous” content.
