OREANDA-NEWS. According to Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, in the capital, almost half – 42% - of those who received free vaccinations against coronavirus infection as part of civilian traffic are older citizens.

She explained that people over 60 years old belong to the main risk group, because it is the elderly who most often suffer from COVID-19 in a severe form. Anastasia Rakova, on behalf of the city authorities, thanked the elderly citizens for taking a responsible attitude to their health, being vaccinated against coronavirus infection and protecting themselves and their loved ones.

The Deputy Mayor recalled that from December 28, in accordance with the permission of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Muscovites over 60 years old can be vaccinated against coronavirus.

A large-scale vaccination against coronavirus in Moscow started on December 5. Employees of medical and educational institutions, as well as city social services were the first to start vaccinating. Later, they were joined by employees of multifunctional centers, culture, trade and services, industrial enterprises, energy, transport and the media.

In addition, people from the spheres of housing and communal services, public catering, sports organizations, law enforcement officials, volunteers, employees of non-profit and religious organizations, employees of the different sectors of the economy are invited for vaccination. On January 4, employees of the banking and financial sector, as well as authorities and budgetary institutions of the federal, regional and municipal levels, received the opportunity to protect themselves from COVID-19.
