OREANDA-NEWS More than 47 thousand Russian citizens have applied to vote in the presidential elections at foreign polling stations through the Mobile Voter mechanism, head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova said.

"Over 47 thousand (people) have applied at foreign polling stations. This has never happened," Pamfilova said at a CEC meeting on Monday.

The Mobile Voter mechanism allows Russian citizens to vote at any polling station they choose within the electoral district (except for municipal elections) regardless of the place of residence.

The presidential elections of the Russian Federation will be held within three days - from March 15 to 17.
