More than 30 ships of the Baltic Fleet went to sea as part of the Ocean-2024 exercise

OREANDA-NEWS More than 30 ships and support vessels of the Baltic Fleet were deployed at sea as part of the strategic command and staff exercises "Ocean-2024", the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on Tuesday.
"More than 30 ships and boats, as well as support vessels of the Baltic Fleet, left their permanent bases and went to designated areas of the Baltic Sea to perform practical tasks of the strategic command and staff exercise Ocean-2024," the message says.
According to the Ministry, in accordance with the exercise plan, ships in tactical groups will have to work out tasks for their intended purpose - anti-submarine and anti-aircraft defense, mine protection, as well as perform missile and artillery firing at various types of targets simulating sea and air targets.
"Large amphibious ships, corvettes, small missile and anti-submarine ships, minesweepers and missile boats, submarines, as well as various vessels of the auxiliary fleet operate at sea," the military department reports.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Tuesday distributed footage of the ships entering the exercise.
The Strategic Command and Staff exercise "Ocean-2024" will be held from September 10 to 16 in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, the Mediterranean, the Caspian and the Baltic Seas.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Defense, the exercise is conducted in a bilateral format under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.
The maneuvers involved: more than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels of the auxiliary fleet, more than 120 aircraft and helicopters of naval aviation and Aerospace Forces, about 7 thousand units of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as more than 90 thousand personnel.
According to the Ministry, the main tasks of the Ocean-2024 exercise are to check the readiness of the leadership of the associations and formations of the Russian Navy to manage heterogeneous groupings of forces in their areas of responsibility, solve non-standard operational tasks, complex use of high-precision weapons, promising and modern models of weapons and military equipment during the practical part of the exercise, as well as expand interaction with the naval forces of the partner countries in solving joint tasks at sea.
