OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan called on compatriots to use the official websites of the Tajik Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic to determine their legal status in the Russian Federation.

"The federal law on the stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation has been amended and supplemented, which will enter into force on February 5, 2025. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has introduced a special deportation regime, more than 120 thousand of our citizens are registered in the "list of controlled persons" as having violated the law," the message published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan says.

On August 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on strengthening federal state control in the field of migration, in particular, introducing a new migration regime of expulsion.

Such a regime will be established in relation to foreign citizens who do not have the right to legally reside in the Russian Federation. This may be due to the expiration of the period of temporary stay in Russia or migration documents, the cancellation of a temporary residence permit, a residence permit, or the commission of an illegal act.

The regime will be terminated in cases of departure of a foreign citizen from the Russian Federation, settlement of his legal status, cancellation of the decision that was the basis for the application of this regime, or death of a foreign citizen.

The introduction of such an expulsion regime implies the restriction of certain rights for a foreign citizen illegally staying in the Russian Federation, as well as a significant expansion of the control measures applied to him over his location in Russia.

In order to ensure the expulsion regime, the law provides for the inclusion of a foreigner in the Register of Controlled Persons, access to which will be provided by the internal affairs bodies to both State bodies and any legal entities and individuals.
