OREANDA-NEWS Minsk and Moscow have reviewed approaches to the use of nuclear weapons against the background of the emergence of weapons based on the latest technologies, Deputy head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Igor Nazaruk told RIA Novosti in an interview.
"The decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus (Russian. — Editor's note) is a fact, therefore, in the new document, from a legal point of view, this is a fixed measure. The degree of mutual security of our states is increasing. Approaches to the use of nuclear weapons have been adjusted," he said.
The Deputy Minister explained that Moscow and Minsk are monitoring the introduction of new technologies in the field of weapons and the use of weapons based on new physical principles, and this could not but affect the adjustment.
Nazaruk recalled that a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State will be held in Minsk on December 6, at which Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will consider the draft security concept of the Union State and the Russian-Belarusian agreement on security guarantees. As noted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the content of the updated Russian nuclear doctrine is fully synchronized with these documents.
