OREANDA-NEWS French President Emmanuel Macron called a condition for peace in the context of the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, peace between Russia and Ukraine should presuppose mutual security guarantees. The French leader announced this on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
"Lasting peace — and this is exactly the formula that should be used — is a peace that will comply with international law, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and which will involve mutual security guarantees," Macron said.
He added that "sooner or later" this conflict will end in a peaceful settlement, and called for striving for the formula that he proposed.
According to the French president, the conflict cannot be resolved by capitulation. He stressed that the world will be unstable if it is based on "the defeat of Ukraine and too many concessions to Russia."
Earlier, Macron called another condition for "lasting peace" in Ukraine. He said that the Crimean Peninsula should be recognized as part of the country again.
