OREANDA-NEWS. If Russia faces aggression from Ukraine, it can count on the support of Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko said this on Wednesday, December 1.
"God forbid, if we find ourselves, if Russia faces aggression from Ukraine, we will be in the closest link - economically, legally, politically - with Russia. This is the main thing,"- said Lukashenko.
According to him, Belarus will support Russia in every possible way - economically, legally and politically. He also noted that Belarus will never be on the side of "that nationalistic frenzy, which is now taking place in Ukraine. Lukashenko claims that he will make every effort to make Ukraine ours".
Earlier, on 29 November, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba opined that Belarus was becoming a source of instability and a threat to neighboring states. According to him, one should not burn all the bridges with Belarus, but one should be very careful when planning one's contacts.
On November 25, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich, said that with NATO building up its capabilities near Belarus' borders, it was important to maintain the combat readiness of the Belarusian army and strengthen the regional grouping of troops with Russia.
Meanwhile, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin noted on Monday that Belarus will hold new military exercises with the participation of Russia. He specified that they will be aimed at practicing the defense of the country's southern borders.
