Losses due to the energy blockade were estimated in Crimea

OREANDA-NEWS The energy blockade of Crimea after 2014 caused damage to the peninsula in the amount of 3 trillion 156 billion 605 million rubles. This was stated by the co-chairman of the special working group, the head of the committee on legislation of the Crimean parliament, Sergei Trofimov, RIA Novosti reports.
The assessment is preliminary. The relevant documents were handed over to a representative of the legal department of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea to prepare a statement of claim, Trofimov said.
At the same time, according to the deputy, the Public Chamber of Crimea is preparing lawsuits from individuals. Earlier, the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, noted that the sum of these losses is about two trillion rubles. Legal entities that have been affected by the power outage will also submit their applications.
The case will be considered by the Arbitration Court of the region. At the same time, the Crimean authorities continue their calculations of the damage caused by the transport, food and banking blockades.
Earlier, the International Court of Justice in The Hague considered itself entitled and decided to consider Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia, filed in February 2022. The President of the court, Joan Donohue, pointed out that the verdict was adopted by 15 votes to one, based on article 9 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide.
