OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the East Asian Summit in Laos on October 11, and a number of bilateral meetings are planned on the sidelines of the event, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"On October 11, in Laos, Vientiane, the Russian Foreign Minister will take part in the 19th East Asian Summit (EAC)," Zakharova said at a briefing.

She recalled that the EAC is part of the ASEAN system of mechanisms and is one of the key elements of the "architecture of multilateral dialogue and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region" built around it.

A number of bilateral meetings are planned for the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the sidelines of the event, Zakharova said.
