OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in ASEAN events in Vientiane from Friday to Saturday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"From July 26 to 27 in Vientiane, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will take part in regular meetings of the heads of foreign ministries through the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in the formats of Russia-ASEAN, the East Asian Summit and the ASEAN Regional Security Forum," Zakharova said at a briefing.

She stressed that Moscow considers ASEAN as one of the key partners in the context of the implementation of the initiative of the President of Russia on building a new architecture of Eurasian security.

According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meetings it is planned to discuss cooperation with the association in the field of security policy, trade, economic and socio-cultural interaction.

Lavrov has been on a visit to Laos since July 25. He has already held a number of bilateral meetings. In particular, the Russian Foreign Minister met with colleagues from China, East Timor, Indonesia, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, and also held a trilateral meeting in the format of Russia - Laos - China.
