OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Lim Jock Hoi on Monday. According to the official representative of the Russian diplomatic mission, Maria Zakharova, the parties intend to discuss the development prospects of the Russian-ASEAN strategic partnership.

In particular, Moscow expects to consider enhancing coordination at international and regional platforms, strengthening cooperation in the fight against new challenges and threats, expanding cooperation in the trade, economic and humanitarian fields, as well as joint steps in the context of the formation of the Greater Eurasian Partnership.

The program of the three-day visit of the Association’s Secretary General, who arrived in the Russian capital on the eve, also includes meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also indicates that, in the context of the initiative of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the formation of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, steps are being taken to develop relations between the EAEU, ASEAN and the SCO.
