OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the country is making a significant contribution to ensuring China's energy security. He wrote about this in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to him, Russian-Chinese practical cooperation has a beneficial effect on the daily lives of citizens of both countries. "Thanks to our natural gas from the Power of Siberia pipeline, the environmental situation in Chinese megacities is improving," the minister stressed.

The head of the department noted that Russian agricultural products are becoming increasingly in demand in Beijing, which "has already reached the second position after energy carriers" in exports to China.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the Power of Siberia pipeline is expected to reach its design capacity in 2025. As for the "Far Eastern route", then, as the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, clarified, the deadline for the start of deliveries along it is 2027. According to Miller, the output of these projects to full capacity will allow Russia to become the largest exporter of natural gas to China.
