OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed by phone with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi the military and political situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, diplomats called on all parties involved to exercise restraint, the Russian diplomatic department reported.

"The ministers exchanged views on the development of the military-political situation in the Middle East, with an emphasis on the need for a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and an early de-escalation of the situation in the region. At the same time, it was stressed that both Moscow and Amman urge all parties involved to exercise restraint in order to avoid catastrophic consequences for the entire Middle East," the message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry noted that the ministers agreed to continue regular contacts on topical issues of the bilateral and international agenda.
