OREANDA-NEWS  US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met in person for the first time since the start of the special military Operation (SVO) in February 2022 at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the G20, currently taking place in Delhi, the capital of India. Footage of the beginning of the meeting was provided by the AFP agency.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that a personal meeting between Lavrov and Blinken is not planned. Blinken also spoke about the lack of intentions to meet with Lavrov in person.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced the arrival of a Russian delegation to the G20 Foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi. According to her, representatives of Moscow have a working attitude. The G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting is taking place in India on March 1-2.
