OREANDA-NEWS  The first tranche of the European Union in the amount of 1.4-1.5 billion euros as part of the transfer of profits from frozen Russian assets to Kiev will be directed to the purchase of ammunition, air defense equipment and support for Ukrainian manufacturers. Such expenses were announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, RBC reports.

According to him, the total amount per year will be 2.5-3 billion euros, and the goods financed in this way will be available to the country until the end of 2024. Kiev will be able to spend funds from August.

Yesterday, the representative of the European Commission, Christian Viigan, promised that the European Union would transfer the first tranche to Ukraine within the next two weeks. At the end of June, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, claimed that Kiev would soon receive the first 1.4 billion euros.
