OREANDA-NEWS. The military-civil administration of the Kherson region has asked Russia to accept the region into the federation, TASS reports with reference to the deputy head of the region Kirill Stremousov.

“The referendum, which was absolutely legally held in Crimea, was not accepted by the world community, which did everything not to perceive Russia as a full-fledged subject of the world community. Therefore, this will be one single decree based on the appeal of the leadership of the Kherson region to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, there will be a request to introduce the Kherson region into a full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation,”

The Kherson region came under Russian control in March 2022 during a special military operation. On the territory of the Kherson region began to pay pensions in rubles.

On May 9, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported that the sounds of explosions were heard in Kherson, and air defense systems were operating. According to the agency, Ukrainian armed formations tried to strike at Kherson on Victory Day. The security forces specified that five air targets were shot down near the village of Chernobaevka, the missiles were directed at the northern part of the city.

On this day, hundreds of residents of Kherson marched in the "Immortal Regiment" along the Alley of Glory to the Eternal Flame. They came to the action with their families, holding portraits of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who took part in the Great Patriotic War and liberated Kherson region from the Nazis.

Earlier, the State Duma called the shelling of Kherson "fascist terror."
