Kazakhstan President Announced the Extension of Quarantine Regime
OREANDA-NEWS. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the extension of quarantine until the end of July in connection with the situation with coronavirus infection in the country.
“In connection with the epidemiological situation in the country, the quarantine regime will be extended for another two weeks. Tomorrow the government commission will make a decision. Quarantine is needed to protect the health of citizens, provided that they comply with strict self-defense measures,” the politician wrote on Twitter. Tokayev thanked the doctors, policemen and volunteers for their selfless work during the fight against COVID-19.
On July 4, new restrictions entered into force in Kazakhstan. Passenger bus service between the regions were reduced. Entertainment, sports and other public events, as well as family and commemorative events, were prohibited. Cultural and entertainment facilities, hairdressers, gyms, swimming pools were closed.
According to the statistics center Worldometer, as of July 13, more than 58 thousand cases of COVID-19 were registered in Kazakhstan, 375 patients died.
