OREANDA-NEWS The government of the Kaliningrad Region proposes to extend federal subsidies for sea transportation to all types of cargo, and not only to sub-sanctioned ones, Governor Anton Alikhanov said in a message to deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the region.
"In today's conditions, the importance of coastal transportation is noticeably increasing for the region. Today, 18 ferries and vessels operate on the sea transit line between Kaliningrad and the main territory of the country. This year we have achieved the allocation of federal funds to Rosmorrechflot in the amount of 1.4 billion rubles for subsidizing sea transportation in order to establish preferential tariffs for cargo transportation (sub-sanctioned cargo - IF)," Alikhanov said.
The head of the region noted that, however, "already now we see that these funds will not be fully used." "One of our proposals to the federal government concerns the establishment of the possibility of compensation for the cost of transportation not only of sanctioned goods, but also of all goods without exception – simply at a simplified combined tariff by type of transportation," he said.
The Governor instructed Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Rolbinov and Minister of Infrastructure Development Evgenia Kukushkina to "speed up the submission of specific proposals to the Ministry of Transport of Russia to simplify the subsidy procedure." "This is a short-term task. It must be implemented quickly," the governor stressed.
"Next week we have a big meeting scheduled with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia to discuss the transit of goods to Kaliningrad, the construction of new ships, the development of port infrastructure. We will seek positive solutions so that our transport complex continues to work rhythmically in these difficult times," Alikhanov concluded.
As reported, the Government of the Russian Federation has allocated more than 1.38 billion rubles to subsidize sea cargo transportation to the Kaliningrad region. The funds were sent to Rosmorrechflot, which distributes subsidies between sea cargo carriers. It is planned that about 900 thousand tons of goods that have fallen under sanctions will be transported in both directions by the end of the year at a preferential tariff.
Currently, cargo transportation by sea to the Kaliningrad region from other regions of the Russian Federation is carried out on several regular lines: Ust-Luga - Baltiysk, Bronka - Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg - Baltiysk, St. Petersburg - Kaliningrad.
The lines are operated by railway ferries "Ambal", "Baltiysk", "Marshal Rokossovsky" and "General Chernyakhovsky", as well as vessels of the type ro-ro/lo-lo "Sparta" and "Sparta II". Also, dry cargo ships "Kholmogory", "Captain Yakovlev", "STK-1004", "STK-1019", "STK-1023" and TBN, "St. Barbara", "RZK Constant", "Mechanic Yartsev", "Mechanic Kottsov" and "Mechanic Kraskovsky" make flights.
