Japanese White Paper Touches upon Three New Directions of Defense
OREANDA-NEWS. The Japan’s Defense White Paper, an annual report by the country’s Defense Ministry, notes the growing role of science and technology in the military sphere, as well as the dynamics in three new areas of defense: outer space, cyberspace and the use of electromagnetic radiation. All of these sections mention Russia and China.
The part on military science and technology says that Moscow and Beijing are developing supersonic weapons, which the United States considers a threat to its air defense system.
The report also says that China and Russia are reinforcing the potential of cyber attacks as a military force to destroy the networks and infrastructure of other countries.
The section on electromagnetic radiation and its use for military purposes, among other things, indicates that China conducts appropriate exercises, and Russia increases the military potential of its electronic equipment. “In eastern Ukraine and Syria it uses electronic equipment to damage the control systems and the operation of enemy radars,” the White Paper reads.
