OREANDA-NEWS. The Italian government expects to receive support from the US Department of Defense in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. CNN television channel reports that the country’s authorities turned directly to the US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper for military assistance.

Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini addressed to the United States after sending several Russian military aircrafts with virologists and medical equipment to Italy. It is known that the head of the Italian military department asked Esper for medical masks and artificial respirators. The Italian government is also counting on the help of American military physicians located in Italy.
