OREANDA-NEWS Russia is negotiating with Ukraine on one issue — the return of dozens of residents of the Kursk region, who were taken to the territory of the Sumy region. This became known from the statement of the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Moskalkova, her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to the Ombudsman, 76 residents of the Kursk region are in Sumy. Moskalkova did not specify the stage of negotiations with the Ukrainian side. "We are negotiating (...) so that these people are not held hostage and given the opportunity to return," the activist said.

A day earlier, on March 18, it was reported that several dozen people had been evacuated from the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region.

On March 13, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the complete return of Sudzha under the control of Russian troops. Active fighting for the city continued from March 8. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian troops are liberating not only the city, but the entire agglomeration. Later, the United States announced Ukraine's retreat from almost the entire territory of the Kursk region.
