OREANDA-NEWS  Russia is developing a supersonic civil aircraft. The Izvestia newspaper learned about this from the scientific director of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) Sergey Chernyshev.

We are talking about creating a technology demonstrator that will allow us to test the flight modes of a future passenger aircraft capable of traveling from Moscow to Vladivostok in two to three hours.

"Most of the technologies within the framework of the project have been developed at the level of digital modeling and ground experiments. Including by purging smaller aircraft models in wind tunnels," the expert said.

Earlier, ArsTechnica reported that the aircraft being developed by a private company had overcome the supersonic barrier for the first time in its history. During the tests that took place on January 28 in the Mojave Desert in California (USA), the Boom Supersonic XB-1 prototype overcame the supersonic barrier three times, reaching a speed of Mach 1,122.
