OREANDA-NEWS. Israeli Air Force struck Syrian capital Damascus with missiles. “Just now we have pounded at terrorist objects of the Islamic Jihad in Syria and Gaza in response to missile attacks on Israeli civilians conducted today,” the Israeli army’s statement says.

The Jerusalem Post, citing the Israeli military, explains the strike at Damascus by the fact that a stronghold of the Islamic Jihad was situated south of the Syrian capital. According to the publication, the missiles for launching at Israeli territory were produced there.

The Syrian government agency SANA reported that during the Israeli shelling most of the missiles fired at Damascus were destroyed. The Syrians published video of the destruction of missiles but did not specify how many of them were shot down.
