In Ukraine, a Criminal Took a Senior Police Officer Hostage
OREANDA-NEWS. In the city of Poltava (Ukraine), a car thief took a policeman hostage threatening him with a grenade.
“The latest news from the scene is that the police officer was replaced by the head of the criminal investigation department, who volunteered to risk his life instead of a junior criminal investigation officer. Now a car has been provided to the criminal, and he and the hostage are driving through Poltava, he is accompanied by the police,” Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Herashchenko, informed.
“After negotiations, the malefactor changed a detained criminal investigation officer for the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Chief Directorate of the National Police in the Poltava Region, Colonel Vitaly Shiyan, with whom he drove in a vehicle, provided in accordance with his requirements, in the direction of leaving the city,” the police department reported.
