OREANDA-NEWS. In Turkey, the number of cases of coronavirus infection has significantly risen recently.

The head of the Ministry of Health of Turkey, Fahrettin Koca, wrote about this on his Twitter page. The politician reported that the number of infected people has seriously increased for the first time in a long time. The minister said that the country should join forces in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, in particular, it is unacceptable that outbreaks are provoked by weekends and holidays.

“The growth in the number of new patients is very serious. The difference between the two days has been so noticeable for the first time in recent years. We must avoid new contacts during vacations, and vacations themselves should not cause such severe consequences,” Koca concluded.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, on August 1 the number of new patients was 997, on August 2 – 986, on August 3 – 993, and on August 4 – 1,083. In total, 234,934 infected people were detected in the country.
